A visit to the famous Laggan Hotel is an absolute must. Built in 1924, it retains the classic country pub atmosphere and serves up delicious, generous meals that have earned it a loyal following. For a special occasion, the Argyle Inn at Taralga is a highly celebrated, hatted fine dining experience well worth the short 20-minute drive. Whether you're after a relaxed pub meal or an unforgettable culinary experience, the region has you covered.

Markets

The village comes alive with regular markets held at the Laggan Memorial Hall every month, offering local produce, handmade goods and a wonderful community atmosphere. The Laggan Hotel also hosts numerous events throughout the year, from car festivals and themed weekends to live music and seasonal celebrations, there's always something happening nearby.

Essentials

Crookwell is just a 5-minute drive from Laggan, where you'll find everything you need including a supermarket, chemist, newsagency, pubs, cafes and a hospital. It's a charming country town in its own right, known for its cool climate, wind farm views and friendly locals.

Nearby

Taralga is a 20-minute drive away and features beautifully preserved historic buildings, a general store, pubs and cafes. It sits on the scenic route to the stunning Wombeyan Caves and conservation reserve, making it the perfect stop on a day trip. Goulburn, Australia's first inland city, is about 45 minutes away and offers heritage streetscapes, great coffee and all the supplies you could need. The Southern Highlands, with its boutique shopping, cellar doors, antiques and excellent country cafes in Bowral and Berrima, is around 1.5 hours away for a lovely day out.

Must Do

Just a scenic drive from Laggan, Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve is one of NSW's most spectacular natural wonders. Set in a secluded valley hidden amongst the rugged beauty of the Southern Highlands, the caves contain vast caverns adorned with striking limestone formations. Choose from guided tours or explore the self-guided Figtree Cave at your own pace. Note: access is currently via Taralga and Wombeyan Caves Road only - the Mittagong road remains closed until further notice. More info: nationalparks.nsw.gov.au
